5 Ways to Clean Up the Community

A community is defined as a group of people who are harmoniously living together within a defined area. This harmonious relationship between the members of the community can be further enhanced by doing activities that aim to improve camaraderie and fellowship. Activities such as community clean-ups and community wide sports fests aim to do just that. A community clean-up, however, is more preferred since this activity will also help in maintaining a clean environment. There are many ways in which communities can perform a community clean-up. Here is a list containing five fun and unique ways.

Community Clean-Up Marathon

A community clean-up marathon is an activity that combines running a marathon and cleaning up the neighbourhood. In this activity, people walk around the neighborhood and pick trash along the designated course. People who are in charge of this activity would need to rent a dumpster which would be placed at the end of each block. The community clean-up marathon is a great way to clean the community because it is fun to do, promotes exercise, and, of course, the community gets cleaned as a result.

Block Party Clean-Up

A block party clean-up is an ingenious idea for cleaning up the community. In this activity, every block has its own DJ and dumpster bins. The DJ then plays music and the participants pick up trash while listening to the music. This activity could also be made into a contest since every block gets its own DJ and dumpster bins. Event organizers will have to rent dumpsters and place them near the DJ’’ locations, allowing people to fully appreciate the music and the event.

Dumpster Filling Contest

A dumpster filling contest will, first and foremost, require the people in charge to rent dumpsters to be used for the activity. The basic rule of the contest is that the block who fills its dumpster bin first wins the contest. If the dumpsters are not full by the end of the time limit, the block who has the most filled dumpster wins the contest. Winners should be given prizes for their efforts.
Contact the Local Community Clean-Up Organizations
Local community clean-up organizations always rent a dumpster to be used during days of clean-up. Individuals may contact these organizations to have their dumpsters set up in ideal locations for a general community clean-up session. The clean-up organizations manage the entire event and may even provide food for the participants. The organizations may also conduct seminars about cleanliness in general, and methods of maintaining the cleanliness of the community.

Community Contest

A community contest may be held and sponsored by a homeowners association. The community will be divided into blocks and the block that has the cleanest environment by the end of the contest week wins the event, possible even a trophy. The community trophy brings bragging rights for the block. This activity requires the homeowners association to rent a dumpster and place it in the participating blocks.
Now that you see how cleaning up your community can be fun, let’s get out and clean our communities.
