Community Clean Up Tips for Neighborhoods with High Foreclosures

The global recession greatly affected the economy leading to high foreclosure rates in some communities. Now that the country is slowly recovering, the housing market seems to follow suit.  Prices for homes are stabilizing and investors are looking at potential businesses.  To bring the business activity back, it is important for these neighborhoods with high foreclosures to start a community clean-up.
•    Initiate.
o    The first thing that you need to do as a concerned citizen is to initiate action.  You can talk to your neighborhood’s homeowners association (HOA) officials to give them information of the advantages of improving your community’s reputation.
o    The HOA officials are the ones who have information about the vacant houses in your community.   You can work with them in identifying and monitoring the status of several vacant properties.
o    They can facilitate negotiations with banks that own the foreclosed properties.  It is important that you get information and permission from banks about your plans so they can help as you go about it.
•    Educate.
o    Once you are able to persuade the HOA officials of your concern, it is time to educate the entire neighborhood.
o    Give them information of how the housing market is gaining momentum now and how your community can benefit from it.
o    Give them scenarios of empty houses that are prone to vandalism, dirty lawns, and overgrown shrubs that become an eyesore.  Tell them how it reflects on the community.
•    Encourage Participation.
o    If you want your community-clean up to be successful, you need to encourage the bigger part of your community to participate in your goal.
o    One good example of encouraging participation is by setting up a committee and delegating tasks to different people.  Once they know their responsibility, they are more likely to act on it.
•    Be Consistent.
o    Community clean ups are not a onetime gig.  You and other officials should be able to continue on maintaining foreclosed houses until it has a new owner.
o    This would be a good reflection of your community and before you know it, your community would be one of the highest rated in the market.
Neighborhoods that have people working together as a community largely contribute to how the market views it.  When residents say that they are happy and content with their community dynamics, more people would want to live there and the overall value of the neighborhood increases.

How to Organize a Community Cleanup Day

A cleanup is one of the activities that are becoming prevalent in a lot of communities. The need for such events has skyrocketed as of late as litter has become a problem in a lot of places worldwide. This is especially so in the urban areas. While eliminating or at least minimizing litter is an awesome idea on paper, it is an idea that’s tough to execute in reality. This article will state all the things you need to know on how to organize a community cleanup day.

Some people may question the significance of such events, with some even arguing that it’s pointless because places would end up getting littered anyway. However, such practices are actually highly encouraged and endow whole communities of a better place to live in. Cleanup drives help in preventing potential disasters such as flooding. What’s more, it also prevents death and injury to both plants and animals living in your area. Cleanups also eliminate the eyesore that trash causes to our surroundings. Last but not least, such events help in fostering a sense of community for everyone involved.

So what are the steps on how to organize a community cleanup day? Here is the step-by-step process.

•    Decide a location where you’ll do a cleanup- The first step in doing a cleanup is settling on a particular place to do it. When screening for a place, it’s best to select a place that badly needs a cleanup for maximum impact. You must settle any necessary documentation to ensure that you’re legally entitled to enter the area.
•    Organize the cleanup- You must do the preparation for the community cleanup in advance. After all, there are so many things to manage. You must decide on an appropriate time to stage your cleanup. Provided that the weather is OK, it’s best to go for it on weekends so more people are available to participate.
•    Recruit potential participants- Manpower is essential for pulling off a successful cleanup. You can do a local press release, set up an information kiosk, and put up posters of the event. You can also give potential participants a detailed map of the cleanup area and potential routes to get there. Don’t forget to add contact numbers to make inquiries simpler.
•    Delegate your troops- Organizing your people is essential for successfully pulling off such a massive event. Expect that most participants would be newbies, so you’ve got to brief them on the dos and don’ts as well as the expectations for such an event. You can delegate roles for each participant, identifying those who have special skills and leadership abilities.
•    Be aware of potential problems- It is essential that wildlife should never be disturbed during cleanup. Perform your cleaning in such a way that it doesn’t damage plants or disturb animals. You must remember that the main purpose for such events is to protect and preserve the environment, not to destroy or disrupt it.

Those are the steps on how to organize a community cleanup day. Get all these in order and your event shall be a smashing success.

Reduce, reuse and recycle

The recycle sign with the green arrows chasing each other in a circle is something you will see at most construction sites. However, what we need to ask is if this is just a token gesture or are we really committed to reducing and recycling? From the sight of overflowing dumpsters at most construction sites, the answer may not be what we are expecting.

Though this means increased business for construction dumpster rental companies, it definitely is not something we can ignore, and this was brought to our attention by a group of people who claimed to be conducting a survey to find out how much of the construction industry is environmentally responsible and how many of them are only paying lip service to their claims of being environmentally responsible.

There is probably a very thick manual sitting somewhere in one of the chief engineers’ cabin explaining the many practices that you can adopt to reduce waste, the materials that you can re-use in and recycle. There most definitely will be a chapter or perhaps more than one chapter devoted to the economic benefits of recycling. However, it is debatable how many people working in construction have read the pages in the manual.

It would not be surprising to know that the recycle manual is gathering dust in a corner, taken out and referred to once in a while during one of those health, safety and environment meetings that take place from time to time. How can we find out how much of the waste produced at construction sites is unavoidable and how much of it is due to negligence? The challenge was taken up by an environmental group which would like to remain unnamed due to obvious reasons one of which being that they are not yet a registered entity yet.

Representatives from this green outfit tried to visitseveral construction sites in the city to find out what are the kinds of material that were being put in the dumpsters. This was not an easy task because construction sites are very strict about safety regulations, which is a good thing and was so noted by the organization conducting the survey. They said it was a positive sign that they were not allowed to visit most construction sites and the reason being cited was safety. So the next logical step was to find out how the waste generated at these sites were being disposed.

The obvious choice was to contact dumpster rental New Jersey companies and find out what the contents of the roll-off dumpsters at construction sites were made of. This definitely is not classified information and may seem very easy for anyone with resourcefulness and persistence to get to know, it was not the case. Finding out what was being disposed of in the dumpsters was no easy task. Firstly, you would need to sift through tons of waste to see if anything useful or recyclable was being disposed. So instead the environmental group took the easy way out and published a report stating that since the number of dumpsters used at construction sites had progressively increased over the years, more waste was being produced than before. This actually doesn’t prove anything and especially not the fact that the waste could have been avoided or was recyclable.

Must Have Bathroom Remodeling Tools

Are you looking to start a bathroom remodeling project soon?  If so, do you have all of the items that you will need?  When it comes to bathroom remodeling or just about any other home improvement project, many individuals automatically think of the materials that will be used. If you are looking to replace your bathtub, of course, you will need a replacement bathtub, but how will you get that bathtub installed without tools? You can’t. That is why it is important to know what you tools you will need before starting your next bathroom remodeling project.

When it comes to tools, you will find that the tools used with all depend on the remodeling that is being done. For instance, if you are planning on remodeling your entire bathroom, you will likely need more tools than you would if you were just replacing your bathroom cabinets.  Despite the fact that different bathroom remodeling projects often call for different tools, you will find that some tools can be used on just about all bathroom remodeling projects.  It might be a good idea to keep these tools, which are listed below, on hand at all times.

One of the many tools that you will want to have on hand, when remodeling your bathroom, is a pair of pliers.  Pliers are one of those tools that you may need to use on a regular basis, not just for a kitchen remodeling project. Therefore, there is a good chance that you already have a pair of pliers in your home or on your tool belt.
It is also advised that you have a tape measure on hand, when preparing to start your next bathroom remodeling project. Whether you are looking to install a new light fixture or tile your bathroom floor, a tape measure could come in handy. In addition to a tape measure, you may also want to make sure that you have a level. Using a level with a tape measure will not only help to ensure that your cabinets or wall hangings are centered, but that they are also level.

Another tool that you should always have on hand, when remodeling your bathroom, is a screwdriver.  In fact, unless you have a multi-function screwdriver, you may even need to have to have more than one screwdriver on hand.  Even better than a multi-function screwdriver is a screw gun.  Screwdrivers are a great, yet simple way to help speed up your next bathroom remodeling project.

It is also advised that you have a ladder on hand, when remodeling your bathroom.  Ladders are used to help reach high places.  If you need to paint your bathroom ceiling or even replace your bathroom lights, you may need to use a ladder. In addition to a ladder, it may be a good idea to keep a small stepstool on hand.  Stepstools are great for helping you reach high spaces that are high enough to need assistance, but not high enough to need a ladder. Stepstools are also nice because most tend to take up a relatively small amount of space.

If you are doing a complete bathroom make-over, you will need a 10 yard roll off container to remove the debris.
In addition to all of the above mentioned tools, it is also important to place a focus on safety. If and when you go out to purchase new kitchen remodeling tools, it is advised that you also purchase some safety equipment, especially if you don’t already own some.  Safety equipment includes, but is not limited to, work gloves, construction hats, face masks, and safety goggles.

The above mentioned kitchen remodeling tools and safety equipment pieces are just a few of the many items that you may need.  For an accurate list of tools that may need to be used during your next bathroom remodeling project, you are advised to review the remodeling projects that you have scheduled, as well as their directions.  Doing so is the best way to not only know what to expect, but also to know what tools you may need to go out and buy.

Roll Off Container Rental Site Preparation

When you rent a Delaware 10 yard roll off container there are a couple things to do in preparation.

First, decide where you are going to place the dumpster. Please check with your municipality concerning any required permits. It is typical for municipalities to require a permit for a dumpster placed on the street, as opposed to in a driveway or on private property.

The delivery truck and 10 yard roll off containers are heavy, even when empty, so we recommend placing the dumpster on a hard surface. If the container is put on the lawn or bare earth expect some damage to the surface from the immense weight. A paved or concrete surface is ideal for receiving a roll off. Additionally, we recommend taking a precaution by placing plywood to prevent scratching or marking.

Finally, check for any overhead obstructions (wires, tree limbs, roof eves, etc.) that would impede delivery.

It is best to have someone on-site to receive the container delivery but we understand that is not always possible. If no one will be on hand, we recommend marking an area indicating where the container should go and having plywood already laid out. The driver should know where to place the container without guessing. If you are concerned the placement will not be obvious to the driver, you should have someone on site.
